Same here although I have grown to like the overall story including the trilogy.
Lucas has always provided dodgy scripts which make it hard for the best of actors to get in to character, even Jackson came out looking stilted so I dont blame Christensen.
Also, Lucas can not stand empty space on the screen and thats why as time has gone by the special editions have had ever increasing amounts of cgi nonsense stuffed in to it.
As for the new films, they will be amazing. I have had a look at the reddit provided by SpoilerMan, who is apparently a disgruntled ex staff , who has posted the entire story line and the trailers seem to back his spoilers up. If what he wrote is true...it will be the Bollocks

I think one of the reasons I've never enjoyed Batman films is because they're always so bloody dark (literally).

I was 6 in 1977, 9 in 1980, and 12 in 1983. I am the Star Wars generation, just the right age to catch this bug good and proper.
Liek most, I thought the last three movies were a let down, mainly because Lucas was too driven with special effects and not character. The characters in the first three movies were memorable and......well, charachters. The lasdt three had some good actors acting like cardboard cut-outs. I do NOT include the idiot who played grown up Annakin as a good actor. Cardboard cut-outs are Oscar nominees in comparrison.
Can't help but look forward to these new films with a, aha, New Hope. Preparing myself to be let down while hoping for a pleasant surprise.

I get the feeling this will be a brilliant visual spectacle but will lack the quality of story that made the franchise. The prequel follow up isn't a patch on the original 3, and I don't see it being better now it has been handed over by Lucas.
I also think I prefer the ropey puppet world of Jim Henson in Star Wars than that strange emptiness of CGI characters.
In short, I expect this to be a tinsle film with little purpose. Really hope I'm wrong as I'm going to watch this immediately either way.
